Bamboo is incredibly sustainable for several reasons. For example, it is the fastest growing plant on earth. Moso bamboo grows up to one meter per day under optimal conditions. In addition, several bamboo trees grow from one root system. By using bamboo that is at least five years old, the root system remains healthy and new bamboo trees continue to grow. This also ensures that there is no threat to the pandas. The pandas prefer to eat the leaves low to the ground. The leaves of Moso bamboo grow too high.
