About this product
Arjan Dwarshuis, enthusiastic birdwatcher and known for De Vogelspotcast, wrote an exciting youth novel about a young girl and a bittern. With beautiful full-colour illustrations by Zilveren Penseel winner Marieke ten Berge.
Suus loves birds and often goes to the swamp near home to watch them. One day, to her great surprise, she befriends a talking bittern. This reminds her of the stories of her demented grandmother, who often heard voices in the swamp. Suus comes across an age-old legend that seems to have something to do with the lonely Ronnie. In the meantime, she tries to help the grumbling bittern get a bittern and open his eyes to the world and the birds around him. Arjan Dwarshuis is a professional birdwatcher, well-known podcaster, columnist and ambassador of the IUCN. His podcast series De Vogelspotcast is extremely popular and now Arjan wants to share his love for birds with children. This is the first part about Suus and Ronnie the bittern.
